What it does
The Model Nippers RM5.0, in three points
Secondary-ground blade
A second grind thins the edge so it passes through a gate with less resistance.
Limiter and safety stop
One stop keeps the jaws from opening too far. Another limits closing force on the blade.
Sheath included
A protective cover guards the edge from drops between sessions.

At the bench
Experienced builders cut twice. The first cut frees the part and leaves a small nub. The second takes the nub off level with the surface. RM5.0 is made for that second cut. The thin edge slices where a thicker blade would push and whiten the plastic. It is 4.65 in long with a return spring that reopens the jaws.
Check before you buy
- You already own a nipper for rough cuts.
- Your parts are PS, PP, ABS or PE, 3 mm or thinner.
- You will keep the sheath on when it is stored.
Limits
Pick another one if
This is a finishing tool with strict limits. It cuts PS, PP, ABS and PE up to 3 mm. Clear PS, hard runners and thicker plastic can chip the blade. Use a cheaper nipper for the first cut. It has few ratings so far, so there is little buyer feedback yet.

surgically good
Wow. yes, they are specialized, yes they are costly vs angle cutters, but these are not your avg. snippers, they are precision snippers, that are super super sharp!! they create clean cut. many uses, not just part removal from carcass. love the precision. Just beware, they are small, made to cut softer material to preserve blade life. excellent build quality and protective leather jacket to prevent damage and rust, recommended!
Not sure what the hype is about...
While this is a fine little side cutter that does have slightly smaller and slighter more elongated jaws than a Hakko CHP-170, if I'm totally honest I'm not entirely sure what it's doing to merit the ~9x price differential.It cuts fine, and it comes with a protective sleeve - which are both nice...but the box artwork is a little offputting at first glance and the head of the cutter has a strange rod and small nut to prevent overtravel in both directions which just seems like a strange design with increased complexity for a product category that feels like it was already perfected.All in all if you're got a very specific set of needs then there is nothing inherently wrong with this set of cutters - but I'll be sticking with the tried and true (and WAY cheaper!) alternatives myself!
