Our story
RUITOOL started in 2019 with a single tool: a ten inch ryoba saw. We cut with it on our own bench for months before it went on sale. The tooth pattern changed twice. So did the handle. When the saw tracked a line without being steered, we called it done.
The six inch saw came next, for flush cuts and small joints. Then the marking knife, since a good saw deserves a good line to follow. Each new tool answered a problem we had met ourselves while building something.

Hand saws
RUITOOL ryoba saws have two edges and thin SK5 blades. The small one trims flush. The large one takes on boards.

At the bench
Our first cabinet jig came out of a kitchen refit. One person, twenty doors, and no one to hold them. A shim under each door worked badly. A clamp with a ledge and a threaded post worked well, and that became the door mounting jig.
The hinge jig, the shelf pin jigs and the drawer slide jig followed the same path. We build the cabinet, find the step that needs three hands, and make a tool that turns it into a two-hand job.

Marking and edge tools
A knife line guides the chisel. A chamfer plane and a spokeshave finish the edge.

What separates us
A jig is only as good as its fit. So every RUITOOL page states what the tool fits and what it does not, in inches and in millimeters.
A door jig says face frame or frameless, and the clamping range in both units. A hinge jig names the cup size and the edge margins. You know if it fits before you buy.
We name the steel: SK5 in the saws, high-carbon in the knives, 65Mn in the spokeshave, chrome vanadium in the nippers. Where the hardness is known, it is on the page as a number.
Every tool has a job it does badly. The frameless jig will not grip a face frame. The nippers will not cut metal. We write that down next to the price.

The range
The RUITOOL range has grown from the saw to six benches. Cabinet jigs are the largest group. Hand saws and marking tools are the oldest. Saw guides and drill jigs keep power tools straight. Woodturning tools serve the lathe. Model nippers belong to a smaller bench, where the work is a plastic kit and the cut is a millimeter wide.

For frameless cabinets with sides from 7 to 40 mm thick, the frameless jig. For face-frame cabinets or a mix of both, the 3-in-1 jig, which clamps from 3/8 to 2-3/4 in.
TPI is teeth per inch. A higher number cuts slower and smoother. Our 6 in ryoba has 14 and 17 TPI edges, and the 10 in ryoba has a coarse 6 to 10 TPI edge and an 18 TPI edge.
No. They are single-blade cutters for plastic model parts. Metal and thick clear plastic chip the blade.
From the bench
No issues. Product as described. I love using Japanese hand saws sometimes when I need something small and quick and can't be fussed to get out something motorized. This isn't the best one I've ever had but it's certainly the most affordable. Cuts straight, has double sides for rip and cross cuts. It's also flexible and compact, which can be handy. Great value for the money.
For the price you can NOT go wrong with these nippers. They cut cleanly, can remove mold lines, are comfortable, and are very high quality for the priceHowever, the metal is very malleable and I do not recommend using these for ANYTHING except injection molded plastic (games workshop, tamiya, etc.) as even gently gripping another metal (glue nozzle for citadel glue) slightly dents the blade.Aside from the sub-stellar durability, these are AMAZING nippers. I recommend you use these and buy expensive professional ones in the future when these wear out.Overall 9/10.
This jig worked very well for my cabinet project. It clamped solidly to the surface and didn't shift accidentally at any point. The pin holes were straight and snug with the standard commercial pins. The two hole size options are excellent, as well as the adjustability of the hole distance. The jig overall feels very solid and like it will last a long time if taken care of.One note for carpenters. If you're drilling into plywood, it's worth pinning a thin sheet of mdf or hardboard on top of your plywood when drilling with this jig. The provided drill bits create some tear out that would be minimized by a top layer. Alternatively, you could try using a different set of bits than the ones supplied, but I don't know if that would stop the problem completely.
Bench notes
Short notes on choosing a jig, reading a saw and trimming a model part.
Face Frame or Frameless: Which Cabinet Door Jig FitsLook at the front edge of the cabinet box. What you see there decides which door jig will clamp to it.
How to Read TPI on a Pull SawTeeth per inch tells you how fast and how smooth a saw cuts. A ryoba gives you two answers on one blade.
Shelf Pin Holes: 1/4 Inch or 5 mm, and Where to DrillTwo pin sizes look alike and do not swap. Pick the size, then the edge distance, then drill.
Choosing Single-Blade Model Nippers: RM1.0, RM3.0, RM5.0A single blade leaves a cleaner gate than two. The grade tells you how thin the blade is and how gently to use it.Browse the full range, or compare our jigs, saws and nippers side by side.
